About the Event

What is ZeroDays CTF 2017

Ireland's largest capture the flag event and running since 2015, the Irish Colleges Security Challenge aims to crown the Irish Colleges Cyber Security Champions.

The event is open to everyone and is beginner friendly for those new to the world of CTFs. The event typically has two categories, College teams (all members currently students at the same college) and non-college teams (which includes everyone else, including industry experts and security professionals).

ZeroDays CTF 2017

Mark Cummins

Founder/Organiser of ZeroDays CTF

Mark Cummins is one of the two founding members of Zerodays Security. In 2015 together with Mark Lane, they created Zerodays Security to organise and promote cyber security challenges, commonly known as capture the flag (CTF) events. ZeroDays aims to promote, develop and encourage participation in CTF events in Ireland. Thier flagship event the Irish Colleges Cyber Security Challenge, aims to showcase and identify the best cyber security students in the country.

Mark is a cyber security lecturer at the Institute of Technology in Blanchardstown, Dublin. When he is not organsing CTFs, Mark enjoys competing in CTFs himself and is also a keen canoeist and currently chairperson for Irish canoepolo committee and also the national women's coach.

Mark Lane

Founder/Organiser of ZeroDays CTF

Mark Lane is a staff member at ITB , lecturing in subjects related to computer systems, computer networking, secure communications, network security and network forensics. He is also currently undertaking a PhD in the area of intrusion detection. Mark is co-organiser, with Mark Cummins, of the ZeroDays CTF which aims to promote the hacker and security community in Irish colleges. He is a contributor to Digital Forensics Magazine.

Michael Hegarty

Michael is a past student of ITB (2000-2004) and a member of the lecturing team since 2012. Michael’s area of research is Steganography with a focus on “The Development of Steganalysis tools to assess the impact of Steganography on electronic communications over insecure networks”.

I am a lecturer in strategic management and hr subjects in itb. I will be submitting my PhD in family business evolution in September 2017. I'm not a tech whizz but I love the buzz at zero days.

Cyber Security Analyst at BH Consulting

Oxana works as a Cyber Security Analyst at BH Consulting based in Dublin, Ireland. She specialises primarily in penetration testing and digital forensics and holds an MSc in Computing (Information Security & Digital Forensics). She is qualified Certified Ethical Hacker and holds ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certification. In the past, she worked as an Associate Faculty at National College of Ireland. Before making her career move to cybersecurity, she worked in Accountancy and Finance sector for several years, but she always had a strong passion for information security and information technology.
